Come from the Heart!
In the age old discussions about the heart and mind, it is often assumed that it is our mind that defines us. Yet, I actually think that the heart is more important to focus on. If we think about the physical life, a person can have a stroke and live for years being “brain dead”, but if the heart stops completely, life is essentially over.
When we focus on living life from a place in our heart, it allows us to feel and sense our experiences in ways that open us to compassion for ourselves and others. It brings us into a greater sense of presence in our own lives and actually allows us to become happier. It is easy to get stuck in our head, it takes a conscious effort to move into a “heart space”. One of the ways we can do this is by cultivating an attitude of gratitude.
Finding at least three things each day to be deeply grateful for allows our hearts to open more to experiencing the blessings of being alive. By being deeply grateful, it brings us more fully present in our lives. Gratitude filles the heart with the capacity to receive blessings and allows the space for miracles to happen in life. We are often limited in the quality of our lives by our capacity to receive. Living from a place of the heart will increase our ability to receive. I encourage you to experiment with living from your heart and notice the differences that it brings to your quality of life.
